Maserati, the name goes synonomous with Class and Pace. It developed its supercar MC12 specifically for FIA GT championship, with a minimum requirement of 25 road versions before the car could be allowed to compete. MC12 derived its chassis and engine from Ferrari Enzo. The Enzo is a 12-cylinder Ferrari supercar named after the company's founder, Enzo Ferrari. Designed by Pininfarina, only 400 Enzos were produced during 2002-2004 using carbon-fiber body, F1-style sequential shift transmission, and carbon-ceramic brake discs used in Formula 1 cars. The MC12 engine was detuned from the Enzo's 660 PS (651 hp/485 kW) to 630 PS (624 hp/465 kW) at 7000 rpm, but otherwise keeps the same layout, a DOHC 65 degree V12 with four valves per cylinder. But with the new bodywork designed again by Pininfarina, MC12 produces an extra downforce at the rear. Interestingly, the MC12 beat the Ferrari Enzo on the Top Gear test track by 0.1 seconds. This classic advertisement for Peugeot which was shot in India, received wide accolades in European market. The 206 ad called 'Sculptor' finished in the first place in an online poll ran by BBC Radio 4 to find 'The Nation's Favorite Ad' for the year 2003. The whole concept behind it is so original and an alternative approach to car advertising. Instead of showing beautiful scenery and driving shots, the commercial focuses on a car from the 1950s that gets ‘re-designed’, with the help of an elephant sitting on its bonnet, and turned into a 206 look-alike by a young man who dreams of owning one and impressing the girls.

Paul van Dyk (PvD) is considered to be the most influential DJ in the Dance Genre and he is ranked no 2 in The Dj List. This video is a documentary for the European culture channel ARTE series Profile featured Paul van Dyk aired in 2002. The 70-minute documentary follows PvD to his hometown in East Germany and travels with him around the world to clubs, as well as into private talks with other artists that he admires, including Canadian singer Alanis Morissette and French designer Philipp Starck. This video features some of the best creations of PvD but the only unfortunate thing is that the commentary is in German.

Maradona the Original; shows the Goal of the Century against England. Maradona runs half the length of the pitch, passing five English players (Glenn Hoddle, Peter Reid, Kenny Sansom, Terry Butcher, and Terry Fenwick) as well as goalkeeper Peter Shilton. This goal was voted Goal of the Century in a 2002 online poll conducted by FIFA. Argentina went on to defeat England 2-1 in that game. This is a funny commercial for Ajinomoto Stadium. Located in Central Tokyo, this is the largest soccer stadium in Japan with a capacity over 50,000 people. This stadium has high tech facilities like heated toilet seats to state-of-the-art broadcasting facilities. Interestingly it never hosted a single World Cup match.

This video shows the formal apprearence of Ferrari 248 F1 on the circuit. This year's new car presentation was not as grand as previous years. It seemed like a low key affair, perhaps set up outside to allow the general fans to attend and view the events. It looked strange without Rubens Barrichello. As I have mentioned in my previous post, Ferrari have made some radical changes both in terms of mechanical and aerodynamic. The weight has been distributed differently as the structure, suspension, transmission and differential have been lightened. Along with a smaller V8 engine, I would guess that this car by itself is lighter then previous cars.

I am posting this video on the wake of Bhopal's gas tragedy victims march to New Delhi. This is a documentary on the 1984 Bhopal disaster and aftermath. The Bhopal disaster is the world's worst industrial disasters in the history of mankind. The explosion at Union Carbide plant located at the heart of the city of Bhopal caused a release of toxic gas rolled along the ground through the surrounding streets killing thousands of people. The gases also injured anywhere from 150,000 to 600,000 people. Six safety measures designed to prevent a gas leak had either malfunctioned, were turned off or were otherwise inadequate. In addition, the safety siren, intended to alert the community should an incident occur at the plant, was turned off.

Warren Anderson, Union Carbide India CEO knew about a 1982 safety audit of the Bhopal plant, which identified 30 major hazards. Rather than fix them in Bhopal, only the company's identical plant in the US was fixed. Neglecting these hazards in Bhopal caused the deadly explosion. Anderson flew to India after the disaster but to the company's surprise, police investigating the disaster immediately arrested him. He subsequently jumped bail and was flow by private jet back to the US, never to return to India. Now he lives a life of luxury in New York State. Anderson has been hiding in the US since the explosion at his company's plant in Bhopal which caused the immediate deaths of thousands of people and led to life long suffering of over 150,000 survivors.

Greenpeace International — George Bush is willing to spend billions, sacrifice many innocent lives, break international laws and dole out summary justice in the pursuit of his misguided 'war on terror'. However if you are a rich American ultimately responsible for the death of more than 20,000 poor people in far off India, you can expect a life of luxury safe from the long arm of the US law.

While fleeing the law in India his company abandoned the polluted factory site allowing it to poison Bhopal residents for 18 years. He did not disclose the composition of the poisonous gas (the company still claims this is a trade secret), thus preventing doctors from properly treating over 150,000 people who are still sick. Very little of the money from the settlement reached with Union Carbide went to the survivors, and people in the area feel betrayed not only by Union Carbide (and chairman Warren Anderson), but also by their own politicians. Dow Chemical took over Union Carbide in 2001 but it claims Union Carbide has 'settled' the issue of Bhopal.
